Bag-in-box for motor oil?

A 20-L bag-in-box package for motor oil has a number of logistical advantages over the round drums that are more typically used today.

OilQube.jpgBag-in-box packaging as a replacement for a round plastic drum seems like an awfully good idea from the sustainable packaging angle. Kuwait Petrolum International is using precisely such a package for its 20-L (5.28-gal) Q8 OilQube in the U.K. The company says the new package format produces 84% less waste than a more conventional plastic drum. Storage and distribution advantages are also gained because of the squared-off shape and the fact that the container can be shipped as a knocked-down flat blank rather than a round container.

The corrugated outer container, from DS Smith Packaging, is water-resistant and recyclable, reports packagingnews.com. The new package will be used initially on products in the agricultural and plant machinery sectors.

I think the packaging is such a great idea. Its all about producing less waste. I am so glad to see the great work going into this. We have to do more of this in the future for the environment.

An interesting idea. I like what your trying to get at. I have to go fix my razor ground force electric go kart now but I will comment more later. Please keep up the great work.
