Greener Package Database

We are in the process of building a comprehensive database containing detailed data on a wide range of packaging materials, containers, products, and suppliers, including detailed environmental data. Even better, we have teamed up with Wal-Mart Stores Inc. Sustainable Packaging Scorecard Modeling Software technology provider ECRM to incorporate its Packaging Marketgate database and link up with the Wal-Mart Stores Inc. Sustainable Packaging Modeling software!

Each supplier who submits a product to this database agrees to answer a rigorous and uniform series of questions.

This will enable packaging users and buyers to drill down to find products by package format (can, bottle, etc.), sustainability criteria (recycled content, renewable resource, etc.), or material type (glass, plastic, paper, etc.).

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. Sustainable Packaging Scorecard Modeling Software connection

ECRM's Packaging.Marketgate database of supplier products will be merged into the Greener Package Database, so at launch, we'll have several hundred entries. The data entered into this database will link up to the Wal-Mart Stores Inc. Sustainable Packaging Scorecard Modeling Software so that buyers and specifiers will be able to conduct what-if scenarios with sustainable packaging alternatives right within the modeling software.

No charge to submit

If you're a supplier with a sustainable packaging material, there is no charge to submit. You can submit one or several products, or even your entire product line, for absolutely free! Answer these questons ONCE for the entire market. Cut down on your sales and marketing time!

Like the awards competition, we spent months deliberating with our Expert Network over what we should ask, and what we can skip. The fact that every supplier must answer the same questions for each product means that packaging specifiers can FINALLY have one source to compare apples to apples.

Preferred treatment for reviewed data

Suppliers can voluntarily submit their data to a third-party independent agency who can audit the supplied documentation to ensure that any claims being made are backed up by the proper documentation. Such entries will be clearly called out on the Web site and will be given preferred treatment within the modeling software. A modest fee is required for the document review service.
