Bottle-to-box packaging launched

The Bottle Box™ is said to be the first ever food packaging made from the bottle-to-box recycling process. Launched by Direct Pack, Inc. (DPI) and Global PET, a range of packaging made from 100% post-consumer PET (rPET) beverage bottles is now available that provides a cost-effective green alternative to current food packages.

The Bottle Box is recommended for takeout, salads, snacks, deli items, and entrees (not to exceed 165 degrees F). Global PET was granted a Letter of Non-Object in 2009, which allows Bottle Box to deliver approved food grade-level packaging. Global PET has secured the source of 100% recycled PET bottles through Plastic Recycling Corp. of California (PRCC) in a 10-year agreement that ensures 60 million pounds of 100% rPET/year.

The Bottle Box package is also said to be eco-chic, with a 21% reduction in material and an airtight and stackable button locking system.
