Dr. Golden received his Ph.D. in Engineering from the University of Cambridge where he resided at Wolfson College. He received a master’s degree in Environmental Engineering and Sustain¬able Development from a joint program of the University of Cambridge and MIT. Dr. Golden also holds a Mastery of Organizational Strategies from Stanford University and has a bachelor’s degree in management.
Golden is an Assistant Professor in the School of Sustainability and affiliate of the Civil & Environmental Engineering Department at Arizona State University. Dr. Golden founded and serves as the Director of the National Center of Excellence on SMART Innovations for Innovations (www.asuSMART.org).
Dr. Golden’s research is focused on the climate change and energy nexus including quantifying and developing organizational strategies and technologies that address the resulting environmental, human health, energy and economic benefits. He is recognized for his work in the development of integrative research methodologies and innovations for both government and industry. .
Golden has testified before the Select Committee on Energy Independence and Global Warming of the United States Congress. He was appointed to a United Nations Life Cycle Management Task Force and has served on the IEEE Climate Change Working Group. He is an AT&T Indus¬trial Ecology Fellow and is a Special Advisor to various organizations on issues of sustainability. This includes Wal-Mart where he serves on their Sustainable Indexing and Labeling Steering Committee, to the executive management team of the Dial-Henkel Corporation, as well supporting the Mayors of London, Phoenix and Chicago. Golden serves on the American Council on Renewable Energy Higher Education Committee and on the Board on the Urban Environment for the American Meteorological Society.
Finally, in partnership with colleagues from Duke University, MIT, Cornell and the University of Michigan, Dr. Golden directs the Sustainable Energy Fellowship (www.TeachEnergy.org) which is educating the most exceptional students from around the country on the pressing issues of climate change, energy and sustainability issues.
