[9]Pure Pacific International of Glendale, CA, has introduced two new water products in bottles decorated with brightly printed full-body shrink-sleeve labels made from EarthFirst® PLA from Plastic Suppliers (www.plasticsuppliers.com [10]). The Aloha Water label, designed by beyondform (http://beyondform.com [11]), is converted by Gilbreth (www.gilbrethusa.com [12]), which uses innovative printing techniques to add a splash of vitality and vibrancy to the beverage/wellness category. The eight- and nine-color printed labels feature a new generation of bright metallic inks, reverse printing, and unique window views.
Aloha Pure Water and Aloha Deep Water, which come from clean, unpolluted artesian water filtered by natural volcanic rock hundreds of feet beneath the Hawaiian Islands, are being marketed for their natural health benefits. Gilbreth’s PLA sleeves, made from an annually renewable and 100% compostable resource, capture the essence of purity, the converter notes.
The full-body PLA shrink sleeves allow for full removal of the label prior to bottle recycling. Unlike pressure-sensitive labels, which leave residual adhesive on the container, full-body sleeves can be cleanly removed in the recycling process. According to Gilbreth, these environmentally friendly aspects of the label help maintain the Pure Pacific’s overall wellness approach.
