Pack Expo: Coldpack previews new pharma pouch
Coldpack™, a provider of insulated packaging solutions, previewed its latest environmentally friendly product, the Pharmaceutical Pouch, at Pack Expo Las Vegas. The pouch, a high-performance inflatable thermal envelope, uses Coldpack’s AirLiner® technology to ensure that sensitive pharmaceutical shipments remain within the necessary temperature range of +2°C to +8°C during the transportation period. The AirLiner is an insulating, inflatable film that is manufactured using patented technology.
According to Coldpack CEO Etienne P. Snollaerts, the new Pharmaceutical Pouch represents the company’s environmental charter to offer sustainable packaging by developing products that use 50% less raw materials and occupy 80% less bulk waste than the alternative Styrofoam; offer reduced freight weight and shipping costs; and are manufactured in a zero-waste facility.
The Pharmaceutical Pouch will leverage the company’s long-standing partnership with DuPont. The AirLiner uses DuPont’s packaging resins for its patented internal heat-barrier technology to provide high-level thermal performance. Coldpack is conducting numerous testing processes in Europe to bring the commercialized product to the North American market.
The reusable pouch is recommended for transferring medication to patients; hospital distributions and supply chains; pharmaceutical wholesale distributions; and the shipment of biological samples or other materials.
