  • Response

My name is Todd Gasparik of Smart Planet Technologies and I am happy to respond to your concern. The product data sheets posted on the Smart Planet Technologies website state there is both polymer content and less plastic used than PE coated boards. www.SmartPlanetTech.com/products Our products are engineered to be “smarter” solutions, optimizing the benefits of all available materials for performance, cost, availability and environmental utility. For example, EarthCoating™ is a “smarter” environmental solution to standard plastic barrier coatings. EarthCoating™ is a clear, barrier coating with a mineral content up to 60% calcium carbonate and 40% polyethylene. EarthCoating™ removes up to 60% of the plastic found in polyethylene and similar polymer-based coatings while significantly improving moisture barrier performance. So, while we are using polyethylene in EarthCoating™, we are achieving greater performance using less polyethylene. Adding that it is heat sealable, economical and readily available, this coating solution can provide significant environmental benefits for the packaging industry.
