Grant Kristofek sees sustainability as the great opportunity for innovation in business today. As a Sustainability Champion at Continuum, his vision and passion for a sustainable world have motivated a comprehensive grassroots-meets-topdown movement within the company. Combining a strong background in physics, math and engineering with a lifelong enthusiasm for music and the arts, Grant works to bring diversely-talented people together to solve complex problems in creative ways.
He has worked with clients such as American Express, SUN Microsystems, Sprint, Symmons, and others to help them understand how sustainable thinking can make them innovators in their industries. He serves on the advisory board for Ecolect.net, an online sustainable materials guide and design community, and contributed to the development of Sustainable Minds, a new sustainability assessment tool for designers. He served as a panelist on the “Materials and Life Cycle” panel at the first annual Greener Gadgets conference held in NYC in February 2008 and spoke about the consumer perspective on sustainability at The Green Event held in NYC in September 2008.
Grant and co-champion Mark Bates were published in the Fall 2008 issue of Design Management Review in an article titled, "Colorblind: How Consumers See Green."

Behavior Driven Packaging?
Much discussion on this forum has focused on how to make packaging more environmentally friendly through measures such as life cycle analysis (LCA), source reduction, supply chain consolidation, operations-based efficiencies, and countless other tactical means. These are certainly critical approaches for improving the overall sustainability of packaging, but I'd like to add another consideration to the dialogue. Let's ponder the end-users of packaging and their behavior.
