Christine J. Smallwood began her career in the packaging trade press in 1986. She is the Director of Business Development for GreenerPackage.com, and Independent Media Representative for Packaging World and Packworld.com.
Christine is committed to facilitating education relevant to innovations from industry and academia that will uncover new technologies and business economies serving sustainable packaging. She was on the concept development team of Summit Media’s Field Guide to Sustainable Packaging and spearheaded the corporate sponsorship sales which funded the free distribution of this periodical to the packaging industry. She was instrumental in the site concept, business plan creation and site architecture of GreenerPackage.com. More recently, Christine facilitated the ongoing relationship between Greener Package and the AIChE's Institute for Sustainability to further educational opportunities for the packaging industry which are grounded in the technical fundamentals of broad sustainable supply chain methodologies. She was instrumental in the program development and launch of The Sustainable Packaging Symposium (www.sustainablepackagingsymposium.com), co-produced by Greener Package and AIChE/IfS (www.aiche.org), leads the team managing the Greener Package Awards, and continues to further sustainable packaging educational opportunities which serve retailers, brand owners and packaging suppliers.
Christine is a graduate of the University of Michigan, Ross School of Business (BBA 1985) and currently resides in Atlanta, Georgia with her husband and their four children.
