  • Plastic Bag Decomposition

I am trying to understand if plastic bags....compostable, oxo, as well as "normal" plastic, can actually ever break down into the components found in nature or is there always this polymer/resin residue? Also, if micro organisms eat the remaining bits of regular or oxo plastic, how does that affect them.....is that actual nutrition for them, or a similar phenomenon of birds eating plastic bottle caps etc... where they just don't know better and it kills them? Does any kind of plastic ever break down into components found in nature and what are those components please. Thanks!
