Webinar to address potential impacts of proposed FTC 'Green Guides'

EPI to present 90-min online event, “FTC Green Guides 101 – What the revisions mean for your packaging claims”

NOT_EcoFriendly2.jpgAfter a year-long process of comments and revisions, the Federal Trade Commission has recently released its proposed revisions to the Guides for the Use of Environmental Marketing Claims for public comment. Comments are being accepted on the revisions until December 10. EPI is offering a webinar on Fri., Nov. 19 from 2 to 3:30 p.m. EST, synthesizing the proposed revisions that would affect packaging claims. The webinar is free for EPI clients; nonclients can register for a nominal fee of $49.

Marci Recher, project manager at EPI and an expert in environmental marketing claims, will lead the 90-min webinar, which will cover the types of claims that are the most relevant to EPI’s clients, and will also allow ample time for questions.

Topics to be covered include existing and proposed guidelines on:

• General environmental benefit claims (e.g., green, eco-friendly, etc.)
• Degradable and compostable claims
• Recyclable
• Recycled content
• Certifications and seals of approval
• Terms not previously addressed by the guides, such as “sustainable”
