Reduce versus Recycle

My understanding of the 3 R's of sustainability is that they are in specific order of importance.

Reduce

Reuse

Recycle

If the above is true, are BioMass type products the leading solution in today's protective packaging market?

The answer to the above is probably yes and no. BioMass certainly reduces the need for petroleum based resin in protective packaging. It also offers more disposal options for an end consumer but what about business to business shipments?

Business to Business shipments probably do not experience the true value in biomass packaging unless they are set up to dispose products to an industrial composting facility.

Can anyone offer any data on industrial composting such as growth, cost, regional outlook, etc.?
