Biodegradable coffee bags launched by PBi

Pacific_Bag.jpgPacific Bag inc.s’ (PBi) latest stock bag, made from Biotre® film, is a 1-lb natural kraft side-gusset bag with the PBi one-way degassing valve. PBi spent more than two years in developing the Biotre film, including extensive composting and cupping tests with industry leaders to verify that the film effectively preserves and protects sensitive products like coffee.

Biotre is composed of 60% (by weight) biodegradable materials made from renewable resources such as wood pulp. Based on previous tests, biodegradation will take on average of several months in a backyard compost pile.

The remaining 40% (by weight) of the bag is polyethylene from fossil fuels with an additive designed to make it break down within five to 10 years.
