Method products are Cradle-to-Cradle-certified
Leading innovator of premium, healthy, home and personal care products, San Francisco-based Method Products, Inc. has received Cradle to Cradle(SM) (C2C) product certification on more than 15 of its eco-friendly cleaning products from consultancy MBDC (www.mbdc.com). The makes Method the company with the most C2C-certified homecare solutions.
C2C product certification involves thorough evaluation of a company's ingredients, packaging, and manufacturing by the teams of environmental chemist Dr. Michael Braungart and green architect William McDonough, co-authors of “Crade to Cradle: Remaking the Way We Make Things.”
Key components of C2C design are using healthy and environmentally safe materials and renewable energy, and instituting corporate practices that promote social responsibility.
"Method is committed to making products and packaging that are green to the core, like our business," said Adam Lowry, Method co-founder and chief greenskeeper. "Obtaining-third party verification from the people who literally wrote the book on cradle-to-cradle design reinforces the work that we're doing, and it tells consumers that in a category filled with green noise, Method is a company they can trust."
Says Braungart, "Method has built C2C principles into the core of its business model, and everything the company does is according to the C2C philosophy. We are proud to have Method be the first brand in the cleaning space with a range of C2C certified products."
Method currently has C2C product certification on its liquid dish soap, hand wash, and foaming hand wash, and is in the process of certifying another 20 Method products.
In line with its commitment to transparency, Method publishes complete ingredient lists for core cleaning products on its Web site, also offering an explanation of each ingredient's function and the health and environmental summary.
"Method welcomes investigation and scrutiny of our products and our business practices," Lowry says. "We encourage consumers to examine not only what a company puts on the shelf, but also what it does behind closed doors. At Method, we believe a green product can only come from a truly green company."
