Vice president of marketing for Snyder’s of Hanover Claude O’Connor shares background on the development of the snack maker’s two new bioplastic-based snack packs.

DSC04008.JPGPopular pretzel maker Snyder’s of Hanover has become one of the leaders when it comes to eco-friendly snack packaging. Last fall, the company introduced a Pretzel Variety Pack, with the outer bag made from renewable materials. And just in time for Earth Day, Snyder’s has scored another green victory with a multilayer snack bag for its Organic Pretzel Stick line.

The new 8-oz snack bags are made from a renewable material called Earth Clear™, developed by Clear Lam Packaging from Ingeo PLA material.

In April, GreenerPackage.com managing editor Anne Marie Mohan spoke with Claude O’Connor, vice president of marketing for Snyder’s, during the Ingeo Innovation Takes Root conference in Dallas. In this resulting 13-minute podcast, O’Connor shares information on Synder’s PLA journey, as well as insight on how the company plans to market the new innovations.

I am glad to see that the Snyder company is going eco friendly. I think the packaging is definitely a start for the environment. Keep up the good work and do more in the future.
