Greener Package Awards

We spoke to some of the brightest people in sustainability—our Expert Network—and asked them to design an awards competition that constitutes the first global independent, neutral awards competition focused on packaging sustainability.

The winners can be considered examples of packages and best practices that the rest of the industry can learn from. The competition's goal: Accelerate the learning curve for you and others on the sustainable packaging journey.

Deadlines for the 2010 competition are listed below:

Award Category Winners

Food & pharmaceutical packaging

Awarded for specific food, beverage and pharmaceutical packages that meet a full spectrum of sustainability criteria.

Awarded for specific packages in personal care, cosmetics, oral care and related markets that meet a full spectrum of sustainability criteria.

Non-food primary packaging

Awarded for all other primary packaging excluding food and personal care categories that meet a full spectrum of sustainability criteria.

Secondary/large-format packaging

Awarded for cases, shippers, pails, drums, or large-product packaging that meet a full spectrum of sustainability criteria.

Beyond the Package Award

Awarded to companies with packaging initiatives or processes such as effective package recovery/take-back programs that connect with recycled markets, unusually green manufacturing operations, or other initiatives that contribute to sustainability that go beyond an individual package.

Must be selected as a winner of the Greener Package award to qualify. Awarded to one entrant who demonstrates innovation above all others.
